This coming Sunday, March 7th, our Bible study will return to Cabot Park in Laguna Hills and I hope you can join us! We just finished up going through the book of Judges yesterday and now will jump over to the challenging book of Revelation.
Revelation does indeed have some difficulties, yet it is the only book in Scripture that comes with a blessing for those who hear it. Chapter 1 verse 3 says, "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." And 22:7 says, "Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book."
In fact, the word "blessed" appears 7 times in the book of Revelation. Just because we find it difficult to understand, doesn't mean we should neglect the study of it. It's like rejecting a meal just because you aren't familiar with some of the ingredients.
Another interesting fact is that Revelation is far from a stand-alone book of the Bible. A lot of Revelation goes back to the book of Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and others! It's an aspect that I love about the Bible and I'll emphasis during our study of this book. The Bible is a beautiful and miraculously woven tapestry.
Through this study I'll try and avoid theological boxes and try to just let God's Word speak for itself, while going to various portions of Scripture to help fill out our understanding of a particular passage.
See you then!
